How to setup a Ubuntu Linux Server for your Website.
In this tutorial, we will be using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
First Step, you want to check for updates:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Second Step, you need to install Apache.
This will be used for having the website.
Code:
sudo apt-get install apache2
Third, go to your ip/domain and you should see this:
Fourth Step, is to install MySQL.
This is needed for Phpmyadmin, which lets you
save usernames and passwords if using a forum software, or cms. Now,
its going to ask you to make a password, make sure you remember it.
Code:
sudo apt-get install mysql-server

Fifth Step, is to now install PHP.
If you have PHP files that you need to run, it will show up
as code on your website unless you install php. Basically,
PHP will be executed with this install:
Code:
sudo apt-get install php libapache2-mod-php php-mcrypt php-mysql

Sixth Step, is to install phpmyadmin.
Of course, like we said earlier, this is only needed for
forum software or cms.
Code:
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

Seventh Step, is to configure the apache config to allow
phpmyadmin to be accessed web based.
You need to do this:
Code:
nano /etc/apache2/apache.conf
And in the bottom put:
Code:
Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf

Last step, WHOO, is to restart apache.
Code:
sudo service apache2 restart

Done!
Now, your ready to install and design your
website.

You don't Exactly need to utilize those exact Commands,
Execute your conditions/dependencies with a * toward the end;
Case : yum install python-* ;or; yum install perl*
In spite of the fact that this could make an issue in NodeJS,
Case: Dependencies/DevDependencies

Great tutorial for the newbies
The thread is so old though. Why revive it.
You know it's super old when the thread used the 1st McMart logo.
